Portrait

This is my machine-portrait for the assignment 2B. Based on the scenes of cities at night, I represent myself as a person who likes tranquility and darkness. Moreover, all of the small images also illustrate a dream which I really want to achieve. Nevertheless, I think there are no such relevant words to describe that thing. Maybe, I should keep it for myself.

PES 6 opening sequence

This is the opening sequence of my favorite game: “pro evolution soccer 6”. Generally it looked a little bit simpler than the older version although the viewers may expect to see more fantastic graphical illustration. Nevertheless, I think the author still succeeds in attracting viewers by letting them know what to focus on easily. Maybe it was the result of a great use of black & white color tones together with lines & flexible animation during the video

dvd interface

I intended to post the dvd interface made in Flash rather than the image. Nevertheless, due to some problems occurred during the uploading process, I had no better choice !

Typography video

A very interesting short video about typography I found on the net. This can be a helpful and comprehensive summary of similar principles that I learnt.

Abstract Background

1. Gradient background

Create a rectangular path and fill it with blue gradient.

gradient path

2. Screen gradient paths

Create another path with Blue-Black gradient and select Screen Blending Mode. This will create a lighter blue gradient shade. If your color setting is CMYK, make sure the black is full black (C,M,Y,K=100). The red arrow on the image is the direction of the gradient fill.

screen path

Repeat the previous step to create another Screen gradient path.

screen path

3. Abstract wave

Make 2 white stroke paths.

4. Blend Tool

Go to Object > Blend > Blend Options, enter Specified Steps = 20. Then with the 2 strokes selected, go to Object > Blend > Make or press Ctrl+Alt+B. This will blend 2 white strokes and create an abstract wave effect. If you want to change the Blend step, you can go to Object > Blend > Blend Options or double click the Blend Tool(B) on the tool bar.

5. Change stroke color

Use Direct Selection Tool (A), select one of strokes and change it to blue stroke color. Notice how 2 strokes blend from blue to white. Isn’t this cool?

6. Wild blend

Now go wild with your Pen tool, create 2 wavy strokes and blend them. Play around with the Blend step, stroke weight and color.

Repeat the steps and create the last abstract blend, from blue to purple.

Final

Your image should look like something below:

I tried to follow these steps and made one for my own as illustrated in the top image. There are still some parts that I did not complete as well as I expected. Therefore, my techniques need improving certainly.

Safe sex - one love

It's a use of metaphor.
But definitely a straight and friendly way of presenting
"SAFE SEX"

Safe sex Poster with type faces

"If You've Had Two Sex Partners" and "AIDS: Get the Facts" represent a common didactic and informative approach to AIDS educational posters that does not use images to supplement text. Their respective content and approach, however, are dramatically different. This poster from the Texas AIDSLINE makes reference to a metaphor taken from Surgeon General C. Everett Koop in the mid-1980s. Koop and other public health educators suggested that in terms of the epidemiology of AIDS, having sex with someone was like having sex with all of their previous partners. At a moment when the dangers of promiscuous sex were being emphasized, this metaphor had the power to even invoke fear of serial monogamy.

Among hundreds of images that demonstrate the effects to prevent HIV-AIDS, respectively in the topic “Safe sex”, this poster stands out and attracts me much due to its special and attractive method of presenting the main ideas. Essentially, having no pictures enclosed does not mean that you lose the crucial parts to exhibit your points. In my opinion, this poster even says a thousand words better than the usual ones.
